The World is Banning Anti-Bacterial Soaps - But there is an alternative
December 29, 2016
Antibacterial soaps were banned from the US market in September 2016, in a final ruling by the Food and Drug Administration, which said that manufacturers had failed to prove the cleansers were safe or more effective than normal products.
“Consumers may think antibacterial washes are more effective at preventing the spread of germs, but we have no scientific evidence that they are any better than plain soap and water,” said Ms. Janet, Director FDA in a statement. “In fact, some data suggests that antibacterial ingredients may do more harm than good over the long term.”
Professor Patrick McNamara, who has published research on antimicrobial soaps, called the ruling “logical” because research shows “there is no added benefit to having these antimicrobial chemicals in soaps”. He added that triclosan and other anti-bacterial substances could play a part in driving antibiotic resistance.
Microbiologists says Australia should follow US lead, given routine use of antibacterial soaps is promoting "superbugs". When the media contacted four manufacturers (Woolworths, Aldi, Colgate-Palmolive and Reckitt Benckiser (RB) — the makers of Dettol), they each confirmed they would eliminate the chemicals that are banned in the US from antibacterial soaps in the next 12 months.
Dirt is Good:
"Try not to be sacred of dirt. It's a good thing. It's great for the children." Professor Harry said other ingredients contained in antibacterial soaps should be investigated. "Do we really need them? Do they lead to a decrease in the number of infections?" she said. "Secondly — are they safe to use? And thirdly are they going to lead to resistance to drugs that we need to save lives?"
Panchgavya: Nature's Defense
Phyto chemical investigation of cow urine sample and medicinal plant extracts prove the presence of active phyto constituents like alkaloids, anthraquinones, flavonoids, tannins and saponins; which are the main constituents promoting antimicrobial activity. Nature's Defense improves our immunity on usage instead encoding resistance in bacterial DNA. Gaumutra based soaps are naturally anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and above all in harmony with nature.
